From 1978 to 1999, USA Walther PPK/S were manufactured by Ranger Manufacturing in Gadsden Alabama and distributed by Interarms. S prefix serial number, indicates an Interarms, 'Under License of', 'Made in USA' (Ranger Mfg) Stainless PPK/s in.380 edited to update serial numbers. The Walther Pre War PPK RZM was only available between 1934 and 1936, making this PPK pretty rare. The RZM pistols were presented to party leaders throughout Germany during the late 1930ās. This gun has all of the correct pre-war markings including the A crown symbol with the āNā below it. The serial number of my PPK/S is XXXXAAA and it's stamped Walther USA LLC, Springfield Mass. There's no way to be sure, but I think it was made by Smith from left over Interarms parts or was a finished gun, but not stamped, when Interarms ended it's corporate lifetime. I was looking through my guns and found that the Walther PPK I purchased last year in marked RMZ. It is not in the posted RMZ range which I see is 820000 and up. Mine is 80635x with the crown N proofs and otherwise matching parts. Does anyone know of a good source for the serial number ranges.
